Plan of Correction

704.11(c)(2)  LICENSURE CPR CERTIFICATION

704.11. Staff development program. (c) General training requirements. (2) CPR certification and first aid training shall be provided to a sufficient number of staff persons, so that at least one person trained in these skills is onsite during the project's hours of operation.
Observations
Based on a review of staff records and schedules, the facility failed to ensure that CPR certification was provided so that at least one certified staff person is onsite during the hours of operation.

This facility is a residential facility and onsite staff is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Staff #5 was the sole staff at the facility during shifts the following days: June 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22, 2021. Staff #5's CPR certification expired on May 31, 2021.

These findings were reviewed with facility staff during the licensing process.

Plan of Correction
Staff #5 will be trained in CPR by October 31, 2021 and will not be permitted going forward to be the sole staff member on duty at any point. Further, at least one staff that is certified in CPR will be present for each shift from this point forward. The Facility Manager and the Training Coordinator from THE PROGRAM will be ensuring that going forward, all staff will receive CPR training in a timely manner and within regulation time periods. Again, staff will not be permitted to work by themselves if they have not been trained in CPR. At least one person on shift will have the certification until all staff are able to be certified.
