The physical plant inspection was conducted on October 30, 2013, at approximately 10:30 AM. The facility failed to maintain narcotics in a separate double-lock box. It was observed that the narcotics were stored in the same cabinet and medication container as non-narcotic medications.

The nurse and Facility Director confirmed that the narcotics were not maintained in a separate double lock box.

Plan of Correction
Facility will order a double lock compact narcotic cabinet (http:/www.rxshelving.com/catx/catxdisplay part.cgi?partkey=365 Item #401624 14" x 9" x 5"). The order will be placed on November 15, 2013 with expected delivery by December 13, 2013. The Facility and Project Directors will insure it is properly installed by maintenance.

The Nursing staff will be responsible for insuring that the narcotic box is secure and in tact on a daily basis and that narcartics are separated in a double lock box away from the other medications.
