Plan of Correction
Regulation
Instruct staff in the use of the fire extinguisher upon staff employment. This instruction shall be documented by the facility.
Explanation
Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC) was not in compliance with the above standard due to the misinterpretation of this regulation. Since CGRC also follows OSHA standards it was understood that although portable fire extinguishers are required and displayed in our facility, in the event of a fire or emergency all employees should immediately vacate the building. After the DOH had researched and contacted OSHA, it was then clarified that all project staff must follow regulation and receive training on the use of the fire extinguisher within 7 days of employment.
Full Compliance date
Our project will be in full compliance with the standard by Friday, August 17, 2007. Additionally any staff hired after the 8/17/07 will be trained within 7 days of hire.
Course of Action
All project staff will be trained in the use of the fire extinguisher by 8/17/07. Our Vice President of Facilities Management and our agency Training Coordinator have developed course content and will document training as appropriate in individual staff employment files.
