This report is a result of an on-site licensing inspection conducted on March 13, 2012 and March 14, 2012, by staff from the Division of Drug and Alcohol Program Licensure. Based on the findings of the on-site licensing inspection, Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. was found not to be in compliance with the applicable chapters of 28 PA Code which pertain to the facility. 704.11(c)(2) LICENSURE CPR CERTIFICATION
704.11. Staff development program.
(c) General training requirements.
(2) CPR certification and first aid training shall be provided to a sufficient number of staff persons, so that at least one person trained in these skills is onsite during the project's hours of operation.

Observations Based on a review of staff development records and an interview with the clinical director the facility failed to ensure a sufficient number of staff are trained in first aid.
Findings:
Seven staff development records were reviewed on March 14, 2012. One employee is trained in first aid. The facility is open Monday - Thursday 9:00 - 19:30 and Friday 9:00 - 17:30. One staff member is not sufficient to provide first aid coverage for the defined hours of operation. The facility failed to ensure that a sufficient number of staff persons were trained in first aid.
The clinical director director was interviewed on March 13, 2012 and March 14, 2012. The clinical director confirmed the finding of one staff member with first aid training.

Plan of Correction All Staff will be trained in First Aid. A representative from Geisinger Medical Group will be conducting a first aid training for all staff on Friday May 18, 2012 for 3 hours at the agency. Over 15 staff members will be trained each year in first aid. CPR certification takes place in March of each year. |
