Initial comments:

This report is the result of an onsite occupancy survey conducted on April 10, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center. The occupancy was for Phase VIII renovations, inspection 09, to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (beds 31-40) located on LL1st floor of the Janet Weis Women and Children's building. Geisinger Medical Center previously had 575 total beds (527 at Geisinger Medical Center Main Campus and 48 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital). This renovation reflects a decrease of one Level III Neonatal Intensive Care bed at Geisinger Main Campus resulting in a total bed count of 574 beds. (526 at Geisinger Medical Center main campus and 48 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital). Based on the occupancy survey, it was determined the facility was in compliance with all applicable requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Rules and Regulations for Hospitals, 28 Pa Code, Part IV, Subparts A and B, November 1987, as amended June 1998 and the current edition of the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital and Health Care Facilities.
